Yummy Treats

Our Story

The lead veterinarian, Dr Janice Crook, set up MCVH in 1998 with the goal of integrating medicines of various types to the benefit of the pets in the community. The guiding idea was to engage clients in the mutual care and respect for the pets that they live with. This kind of medicine was called “high touch” at the time and it was novel in 1998. We spend more time with each animal and get to know the families through generations of pet care. My hope is that we can continue to offer this service to our clients as it has been in the last three decades, into the next three decades.

About Janice

Janice graduated from the Atlantic Veterinary College (UPEI) in 1992 and immediately drove West with her husband, dog and cats in tow. For the first 6 years of practice, she had a varied and exciting practice that included working in up to 50 clinics in BC, many of which were remote. Additional training in homeopathy (2000) and chiropractic (2005) followed. “I still learn from the animals that come to see me every day. I think they make me a better person”

Rescue Connections

Pacific Animal Foundation

The amazing work of PAF as a feral cat Trap Neuter and Return (TNR) advocacy group has helped hundreds of homeless cats find care over the past three decades and we proudly support their work. The advocacy that has been done in our community in that time with TNR of feral cats has diminished the homeless cat situation significantly. Please look to them if you have room for another cat in your family, or are looking to volunteer.

New Clients

We are currently not accepting new clients and look forward to growing our staff to help serve the current client base with the style of practice to which they have grown accustomed. If you are here looking for a new veterinarian, can I encourage you to try to find a small independent clinic with a philosophy that reflects your own?
